MAAA Wingspan

27 NOVEMBER WING SPAN MAAALogo. long weekend, with the exception of 1996 when it was held over Easter and an F3B event was included. The MAAA helped fund an international visitor, Nic Wright from the UK. Nic was the current F3B World Champion, and we were also fortunate to have Daryl Perkins from the USA attend this event. Daryl and Nic were the first World Champions to compete at Jerilderie, and later our very own David Hobby and Joe Wurts (USA via NZ), both multiple World Champions, flew at the event. Over the years, entry numbers have ranged from 50 to 80 with pilots coming from Australia wide. In 2017 we celebrated the 40th Jerilderie event and the emerging class of F5J electric glider was added. COVID-19 restrictions forced the cancellation of Jerilderie 2020, breaking a 42-year run, but we are pleased to announce that the 2020 LSF Tournament will be held at the Wentworth Racecourse, NSW from October 16th to 19th. Both Open Thermal and F5J events will be run under the auspices of the LSF and Sunraysia Aeromodellers Mildura. Details of this event and the LSF Soaring Achievement program are available on the LSF Australia website http://www.lsfaustralia.org.au/ Planning is already under way for the Jerilderie 2021 event with Open Thermal on Friday and F5J on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We hope that this will be the biggest F5J event in 2021 in the Southern Hemisphere. As an added bonus we will also be running F3 E-RES which is a new 2-meter electric glider class aimed at pilots who are new to RC soaring. These relatively simple models feature rudder, elevator and spoiler controls and offer great performance. Look out for a future article on F3 E-RES gliders. MAAALogo. AUGUST WI
