11 “We were thrilled to welcome the general public who came out to view these RC jets in action, shooting through the skies over Casino Airport. It’s was an amazing event, never seen or experienced before in Casino.” Queensland Turbine Flyers Association President, Derek Pontarolo said there was only positive feedback received from the event, with the local community coming to witness the jets soaring through the skies of Casino. “Being the first time we’ve held it in Casino, it was a bit of a trial event, but we couldn’t be happier with the result,” said Derek. “Not only was there amazing camaraderie amongst the pilots, but with the great turn out from the general public, we created amazing exposure for our sport, “At first the spectators were just watching the planes in the skies, then we started having guided tours, where they could go into the pits and see the planes up close, ask questions and learn more about jets. It was a great experience for them and for the pilots, “We couldn’t have asked for a better venue and a greater group of pilots. It really was a great jet event.” “They sound and fly exactly like a full-scale jet and it’s amazing to see how fast they can get.”
