14 “The day wouldn’t have been the same without the generous sponsorships and prizes fromHobbyking and also a huge thank you to the MAAA for the gliders to give away. The Hobbyking raffle raised $1,600 for the charities.” New South Wales Kids in Need Chairman Peter Debnam said the event attracted hundreds of aviation enthusiasts keen to meet the great minds behind the technology, construction and flying of these large-scale aircraft models. “Not only are the demonstrations really engaging, but last year we discovered it was as much about the line-up of jets on display that people love to study. It’s extraordinary when you consider that some of these jets and planes are exact replicas up to 1/2 the size of the real thing, and some even run on actual jet fuel,” Mr Debnam said. “It was an incredible spectacle, with large-scale jet aircraft models - including F18 Classic Hornets and MIG29 jet fighters - flying at up to 400 kilometres an hour! They were very exciting to watch. “Last year’s event was a great success and it’s thanks to the support and enthusiasm of all our partners and the attendees it’s on again this year.” “I’d like to offer a huge thank you to our display pilots for their support. They travelled from across the state, gave up their weekend, paid all of their own expenses and risked their models at a less than perfect venue all to put on a show for this incredible cause,” said Levi. “Also hats off to Paul Bennet who took over the running of the event whenmy family fell ill on the event eve. “Hobbyking, thank you for your extreme generosity. Thanks to your donation of toys along with the MAAA gliders, there was not a kid that left the event without a toy and a smile. “Lastly, thanks to the MAAA, CASA and Aeromodellers NSW for your continued support. None of these events would happen if it weren’t for you placing your trust in us.” The day wouldn’t have been the same without the generous sponsorships and prizes fromHobbyking.
