MAAA Wingspan

20 WING SPAN NOVEMBER “My journey as a competitor and Australian representative to the 2019 F3A World brings a sense of pride and appreciation for what can be described as one of the most memorable aeromodelling highlights of my life. I have been involved with this hobby since I was a teenager and 40 years later, it still fascinates me on many fronts, but mostly by the people I meet through these experiences and lifelong friends I have made. “I would like to personally thank the APA and the MAAA for their assistance to allowme to participate at this event and my family for their understanding to allowme to fulfil a dream. A big thank you to the whole of the Aussie team for their support and assistance and making this whole experience truly enjoyable and memorable.” The Australian Teamwas selected from results obtained from the APA Masters World Cup event held in Coolum (Qld) in March 2019. A team trial event was run as part of the main event for competitors wishing to compete at the World Championships. The APA Masters is the largest F3A event in the country which takes place every year rotating from state to state. The event is always well supported with close to 50+ entries between all the classes with competitors from all over the country. The Coolum event also attracted international pilots from England, Netherlands, Germany, Japan (World Champion) and New Zealand. Previous events have also attracted pilots from the USA. The event is growing in popularity and attracting a lot of international interest. Due to the timing and our favourable weather conditions at this time of the year, it gives European and American pilots an opportunity to prepare early for their competition seasons. The next APA Masters event will be held in the Barossa Valley (SA) (BVMAC). Dates will be the 27th - 30th of March 2020. A number of internationals are already making plans to attend, and this will surely be an event not to be missed. The APA (Australian Precision Aerobatics) is a special interest group (SIG) to the MAAA actively promoting Radio Controlled Precision Aerobatics within Australian States and Territories, applying administration function on rules and maintaining communication to all members through all forms of media. A lot of great material and information can be found at www.f3a. com.au . The APA and the MAAA have been tremendous supporters of past and present teams who have represented Australia at the highest level of competition. We are seeing a renewed level of interest due to the hard work the APA are doing to promote this category of flying.
