Australian FPV Association President, Timothy Crofts said the 2019 event was a huge success. “The 4th Australian Drone Nationals is now in the history books. We can now say without a doubt that this year was the biggest and most challenging yet,” said Timothy. “The number of participants has exceeded all previous years by a considerable margin and the spectator experience was absolutely more solid and engaging for all those who attended in person. The 2019 event has definitely set a new benchmark for FPV drone racing events in Australia. “Executing this event would simply not have been possible without the tireless and dedicated help from a number of local and interstate volunteers. Absolutely everyone who took part in planning or running this event volunteered their time to ensure it was a success. “A special thank you goes out to the Canberra Multirotor Racing Club members who rallied together to help with the event setup, running the information booth and going that extra mile to assist wherever it was needed. We’d like to single out and give a special thanks to members Phil Casey, Joe Igoe-Taylor, Henry Corbell, Dave Aitchison, Kirsten Aitchison, Ben Wilson, Joseph Curtis, Brent Sykes, Dean Koeck, Ben Brighton, Tom Gash, Nicholas Eberl and Scott Dillon. “From the interstate crowd we would like to offer a massive thank you to everyone who helped set up the track, pack up the track and especially with the Saturday night resurrection of the track after the destructive gale-force winds tore it to pieces. There were too many of you to name all of you individually, but you all know who you are.” Timothy said a big thank you also goes out to the Army Drone Racing Team and Army UAS Events team for bringing in their resources like shade tents, tables, chairs and shipping container as well as assisting with media coordination and STEM engagement activities. “A sincere thank you must also go out to our loving sponsors and event supporters who provided us with the essential resources necessary to put on such an amazing event.
