MAAA Wingspan
The MAAA has purchased another flying field in South Australia, this one being south of Adelaide and located at Finnes amongst the vineyards and grain crops. The 100-acre property was purchased from an ex-modeller and an avionics engineer. As such, the property includes a full-size hangar, residential property, and full-size grass runway. Electricity and water are already connected. It is a fantastic venue for a model aircraft field. Close by are the towns of Victor Harbour and Goolwa; if you visit, there is plenty for all the family to do. The 2020 MAAA Nationals will be conducted in West Wyalong between the 29th of April and the 9th of May. A week prior to that the Wagga Club will be conducting their annual warbirds day. Plan to make a holiday of it and go to both events. Whilst on the topic of event, plan to travel to the middle of Australia and join in the fun at the Alice Springs Masters Games during which aeromodelling plays an important part, the dates of this event are the 10th to the 17th of October 2020. On the topic of the Nationals, whether to continue them or not has been a debatable topic for years, I believe I presented a paper over 15 years ago. To this end, the MAAA has established a working group to examine all aspects and develop a 5-year strategic plan. Some of the topics to be examine are, should we continue with the Nationals, if yes, when and how often will they be conducted, where will they be conducted, and will the venue be a permanent venue, or should the status quo remain? In closing, I wish all your family, friends and aeromodellers a very happy Christmas and trust that 2020 brings joy to us all. Never forget why we fly and trust you all have blue skies.
