7 NOVEMBER WING SPAN MAAALogo. The 38th running of the Mammoth Scale Fly-In at Shepparton, proved once again why it is one of the premier flying events on the Australian aeromodelling scene. Hosted by the Valley Radio Flyers at the Ian Watts Flying Field, this Australian-renowned aerial event, showcased the biggest and most impressive range of large-scale models in the country, attracting thousands of community members and top-class pilots. Valley Radio Flyers Club President, Les Sawyer said the scale show was a tremendous event, held over the weekend of September 14-15, showcasing the thrills and fun of our sport as well as the great camaraderie and the sharing of stories among mates. “We had ideal flying conditions on the Saturday, the circuits were consistently full, and pilots came from all over Australia to take part,” said Les. “A huge thanks goes to all the active members of the VRF who worked tirelessly in the lead up and during the event, as well as the canteen team and all the community members who came out and supported our event. “Year in and year out, it is renowned for being a great, family-friendly, social event where people can witness top-class pilots in action.” This premier event was recently rejuvenated through better promotion throughout the community and through social media, which attracted more interest from the local community.
