26 WING SPAN NOVEMBER The Echuca Moama Model Aero Club (EMMAC), has recently installed a lifesaving defibrillator thanks to the latest round of grants made possible by the MAAA’s Club Assistance Scheme. Secretary of EMMAC Fred West said the club has an ageing member demographic, and the installation of a defibrillator adds some peace of mind if one of their members or visitors had a problem, then help would be on hand. “The club is very appreciative of the assistance provided by the MAAA to make it possible,” he said. The EMMAC club is made up of about 35 hard-working and keen enthusiasts who are the host club of the VMAA - Echuca State Field. This field has been a success story for the VMAA, as the field was the original site of the club which became available for sale as the farmer that owned the land wanted to sell it and it looked like EMMAC was going to lose its field. After a lot of hard work by the Club and the VMAA, a deal was put together to acquire the land with EMMAC as host tenants. Since that time the club, with assistance from the VMAA has developed the field which now boasts a clubhouse with kitchen facilities, a toilet block with showers, a large undercover pit area along with extensive East West and North South matt runways. The addition of a defibrillator is another step forward in the field’s evaluation and being a State Field. It is available for use by all MAAA members. The club hosts several SIG and fun fly events throughout the year and they also welcome visitors to the field at any time.
