coVER
It has been a busy few months for
the MAAA. We have launched our new
website at
,
held the
MAAA Council Conference in Darwin and
continued to provide guidance on safety
issues around the country.
In May, the MAAA Council meeting
reaffirmed its commitment to provide
management support to help our clubs deliver the highest levels
of service to new and existing members.
The Council elected a new Vice President, Carl Bizon. Carl is
currently the President of the VMAA and his experience will hold
him in good stead. We welcome him on board and thank past Vice
President Tahn Stowe for his contributions.
Recognising the popularity of model helicopters in our sport,
a National Special Interest Group for Multi-Rotor models was
established at the Council meeting. A submission relating to a
wings system for multi-rotors has already been received and
examined by the Flight Instruction Sub-Committee. The tests have
been modelled on the helicopter wings test and modified to suit
multi-rotors. The Executive has also agreed tests for any of the
categories can be conducted by any MAAA Instructor. The wings
test is to ensure the member being examined can carry out the
stated manoeuvres safely. Any qualified instructor should be able
to do this.
