24 WING SPAN NOVEMBER WING SPA NOVEMBER Pilots took to the skies over Orange for the 28th annual Banjo Paterson Scale Rally, held from February 22-23. Hosted by the Orange Model Aircraft Club, the weekend- long event saw 38 registered pilots with 68 scale model aircrafts compete. Though the event started off with a windy morning on the Saturday, by lunch the weather settled enough for pilots to start the aerial spectacular. Orange Model Aircraft Club President, Norm Barnes, who has helped organise the event for 19 years, said that the talent this year was top-notch and expressed that it was great to see so many returning pilots. “They’re all great pilots and they have to be, as the entry rank for Banjo Paterson Scale Rally is gold standard,” Norm said “It was great to see so many familiar faces return this year for another great weekend of flying fun”. “As far as Orange is concerned, we would see them year to year, 99% we wouldn’t see until the next Banjo Paterson Scale Rally.” Norm said events like Banjo Paterson Rally Scale were important to create exposure for the sport as well as increase camaraderie amongst pilots. “Event’s like this are great to increase membership and get the public aware of our sport,” he said. “Banjo Paterson Scale Rally really shows off the best of our sport; camaraderie, talent, technique and knowledge.” The Orange Model Aircraft Club has been welcoming members since 1929 and is one of the oldest clubs in Australia. The Orange Model Aircraft Club invites all members to come out next year and enjoy the camaraderie and talent at the 29th Annual Banjo Paterson Scale Rally 2021 to be held on 20th and 21st February. “We’re always looking for members and invite anyone who is keen for a weekend of flying to come to next year’s Banjo Paterson’s Scale Rally,” Norm said “The OMAC, very popular for a Sunday morning sit down breakfast overlooking the wonderful view from our clubhouse, was well supported with 31 people partaking The 28th Annual Banjo Paterson Scale Rally
