Australian Model Flying
Day October 24-25
All proceeds go to the Royal
Flying Doctor Service
We’d like to see clubs across the
country take to the skies to show
their support for the important work
of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Flying a model aircraft is a fast-
growing family sport and the MAAA
is encouraging people to get out to
a local club, learn more about the
sport and show their support for the
Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Your club can be part of Australian
Model Flying Day!
• Register your club’s
participation with the
MAAA secretary by emailing
• Let the MAAA secretary know
how many members you think
will attend
• Receive 2015 MAAA Australian
Model Flying Day badges
• Plan one day during the
weekend of October 24-25 and
organise a club flying event or
even just a fundraising BBQ
• Give a commemorative badge
to each member who donates
$5 towards the day for the Royal
Flying Doctor Service
The event does not need to be a
flying display (unless your club
wishes to do so) and therefore no
approvals are required. It would be
great, however, to see members
of the public encouraged to come
along and take part in our sport!
Come on, join in, and show that
aeromodelling as a sport can
give something back to the
community, especially for such a
worthy cause.

MAAA will again host the event in 2016 at Sandown Raceway in
Melbourne.
The F-1 Air Race Sandown is fast, furious and fun. This event will
have the best of the best, from world class pilots and drivers to
some of the best models in the world.
Don’t miss out! If you want to be a major sponsor of the event,
or exhibit in 2016, now is the time to get on board! For more

The MAAA is here to support our members. The results are in fromour 2015 survey, and we really appreciate your feedback.
Last year in response to our survey we introduce the Silver Wings program. Also in 2014 survey respondents identified
increased promotion and public awareness of aeromodelling as important.
We’re pleased to report that our support of the Nationals and the F1 Sandown Air Race received prime time coverage and
reachedmore than twomillion Australians! On top of this, through our advocacy for MAAA members, flying model aircraft
has been recognised as a sport by the Australian Government. This opens upmore state and local government grants for
