ASSISTANCE
Club Assistance
Did you know that if your members are
affiliated with the MAAA you can apply
for assistance to improve club facilities?
Full details of the scheme can be found
at
/
clubassistance, and soon on our new
website.
This scheme is operated in partnership
with State Associations. It is envisaged
that individual members will benefit by
way of improved flying facilities. This
scheme is of most benefit to those clubs
that have a small membership base and
limited financial resources.
Low-interest loans
to clubs
The MAAA can now provide short-term,
very low interest loans of up to $20,000
for the purpose of improving club
infrastructure and equipment. Your club
can loan money for everything from field
maintenance equipment to upgrading
facilities.
The MAAA can also loan larger amounts
on application, as a way of helping you
attract more members to the sport!
The oldest possible correspondence that your club has as
to when you started flying from this property.
Site location, address or lot and plan, so the MAAA can
look at online planning instruments.
And finally, an aerial photograph please. This can just be
a print screen from Google Earth.
Club question:
Our club wants to hold a flying display at our
field but we are experiencing some difficulty convincing the
local council to allow this to go ahead.
Response:
The council is normally concerned about
practical arrangements including local infrastructure.
Generally, local councils will support events, but you need
to keep them well-informed about your plans and be ready
to answer their questions. Taking the time to brainstorm
some of these issues with your club before you speak to
the council might be a good idea. With constant changes
to legislation, you might really need to spell out your
arrangements (even if you’ve held events before). Some of
the things that councils might raise include:
Traffic plans:
Do you have additional car parking
areas? Will the traffic cause problems for neighbouring
properties? Can the local road systems take large
concentrated vehicle movements from people attending
your event?
Waste water management:
How is the club going
to deal with the expected increase in a healthy and
environmentally safe manner?
Garbage management:
What arrangement has the club
made for the increase in garbage expected at an event?
